Wedding photography is so much more than just taking pictures.
It’s about seeing moments, creating moments, capturing emotions and recording details.
It’s about presenting all of this in a style that reflects the spirit of the day and the personalities of the bride and groom.
And, most importantly, it’s about achieving all that is expected in a way that enhances a wedding day rather than dominating one.
Before your wedding we will meet, we will talk, and we will keep doing so as often as you like. During this time we will get to know each other and become relaxed around each other. We will establish what matters most and what you couldn’t care less about.
You can’t force a smile. Telling someone to relax is not realxing. It sounds obvious, yet how often have we all been told to relax and smile? Wedding photography is a joyous thing to do. We have fun, we share the excitement and the photographs flow from that.
This is one of the key reasons you hire a wedding photographer. Because I will think about, plan for, and execute all of the nitty-gritty details that you simply don’t want to worry about. It’s my job to basically know everything required so we all relax and enjoy the day.
The style you are looking for, special guests I need to know about, key features of the venue, and that eternal wedding photography question – “to group or not to group” These things, and everything else is nailed down before your day. All you have to do is enjoy the ride.
Many terms are used to describe wedding photography styles. Terms like traditional, candid, documentary, fine art and even photo ninja are often used to describe a photographer’s style.
The reality is that all weddings involve a mix of moments: traditional moments, moments that are created, moments that are spontaneous. There will be bright rooms, dark rooms, sunny days and rainy ones. A good wedding photographer will have the technique to capture all of these types of moments in all of these types of conditions.
The style comes down to knowing what to emphasize, what’s important, and what isn’t.
This is why we meet beforehand, so we are crystal clear on what we are aiming for and how you want your day captured. It is also why you will see a mix of styles in my portfolio, because a wedding photographer must have this flexibility in their repertoire.
Yes – its true, no wedding photography website is complete without mentioning group photographs. So, here is my view.
Weddings have a unique ability to gather people who very rarely meet.
For some couples this is incredibly important and they want a record of that moment in time. For others, capturing the vibe of the event and the storyline of the day is all that matters. For the majority of couples it’s a balance of both.
Yes groups take time, and a lot of groups can take a lot of time. But It’s your wedding day, I am your photographer. So when we meet, we establish what you want and we fit that into your plans for your day. And on the day, that’s what we do. Its as simple as that.
I will give you all the advice you want, but I’ll never tell you what will, or will not happen.
This will be the biggest day of your lives. I will make it my mission to do it justice.
